Its Been a While

I know its been a while since I shared my lovely little fiber art so I wanted to take the time to do so. It has been crazy as always here.... we registered our oldest for kindergarten, my father in law was rushed to the ER and we have been potty training our youngest. I have still been fitting in crochet when I can and am proud to say I finished some projects. I have been working on a baby shower gift for a sweet lady from Louisiana. She really blessed me a couple years ago by sending me a lot of homeschool materials and I wanted to repay the favor. I made the diaper cover from a free pattern that can be found here. In her pattern instead of row 18 and 19 being beige I did row 18 in red and row 19 in white. I also made the tail on my own by CH 2 then sc 5 in 2nd CH. I then increased around till I got the width I needed then sc around till I got the length I wanted. For the beige I used "I Love This Yarn" in taupe, "Red Heart With Love" in Holly Berry and "Red Heart With Love" in Aran. The hat I just made a magic circle, sc 6 in the loop, increased until I had a flat circle the size I needed, crocheted around. I also added simple ear flaps and cute floppy ears. The tail I made detachable by putting a button on it. I loved how it cam out and very proud of how far I have come.

These are from a CAL that i did this month. The original pattern is by Sara Sach : Posh Pooch Designs and can be found here...  She has very cute designs and she does design for furry friends but has a bunch of designs and patterns for us humans too!! I Made my bag more of a 12x16 so my long knitting needles can lay flay in the bottom. I also plan on lining it with the fabric in the picture. My new project bag fits perfectly under my laptop table in front of my chair... loving it.

These are my donation squares for last month. I am currently working on 4 other 12 x 12 squares I hope to mail off by the end of the week... Donating is such a great thing!

My Little Getaway Room

cool art a block from out hotel when we went to the Chattanooga Aquarium!
If you know anything about me you that we have been doing Homeschool preschool with our son. This coming year we had to choose to continue to Homeschooling him or send him to a public school. It has been a hard decision and originally we planned to Homeschool him all the way through. However after many conversations and talking to him we decided to send him to public school. We are blessed to live in a very rural area and his school is less than 5 minutes away. We are also Blessed that it is the school my hubby graduated from and know knows most the teachers since they went to school with him. I think that also helped make our decision. Since we have decided to send him to public school our once school room is becoming more of my craft room with a homework room flare lol. I still plan on doing preschool with our youngest in there but am trying to make it more of a place for me than them.

So here is what I have going on so far.....

Spring Fever

I love Spring...well I love the season not the yellow powdery pollen that plagues the world causing water eyes and itchy noses. Each spring all the pretty little flowers pop up as to say hello... and every spring I get the urge to take on a new project. Most of these projects deal with cleaning out everything! Currently my project is the homeschool room/ craft room. I am starting with my yarn storage. I have shown my yarn storage before but those of you who are new to this blog here it is.

Ok its cute right.. I love the bright colors. However look closely. You can see that I am almost out of room in some of the colors. This picture was taken a couple months ago... the red, green, blue and purples are full at this point so I need something that is bigger. I can add more crates but the more you add the more wobbly they get. However as much as I would love to go to my local Ikea store (which I do not have lol) I am on a tight budget, I have under $100. My solution is the $27 bookcase from Walmart. They are pretty sturdy and we already have some in there with books on them so they will match. They only have 5 shelves though, so I am getting two set on the 5 shelves and one set of the 3 shelf system. I am using the shelves and cutting the boards on the 3 shelf to add more shelf to the larger ones. So far I only have one big and one small waiting on some extra money from the honey to get the other one. I can not wait to get this done.

Speaking of the "Clean out Organize project in the school room I moved around my desk area and now have a Whole bookcase dedicated to my crafts. I have a shelf for some books that I have been getting. I will share the books on here as I get them but you also can see them on my Amazon link on the left side of the page. On of my new book- magazine loves is Simply Crochet. I love how they send a little gift with each months edition. They have lovely ladies that are extremely helpful working for them. Living on the states I get the magazines later than others. I have got issue 1-5. The last issue 5 had a little kit to make a Flower Broach. It came with the yarn, clasp and a plastic hook! I added a 3 layer of flowers to mine and paired it with a vintage shell button for some summer shimmer. I think it came out well and love the button on it. I have other projects to share later this week but to day I must work on them some more... Happy Hooking Friends and have a Blessed Day!
