It’s Been a While: Crochet Projects, Family News, and New Bags

Hello friends, I know it has been a while since I shared my lovely little fiber art, so I wanted to take some time today to share what has been going on here. Life has been crazy as always. We registered our oldest for kindergarten, my father-in-law was rushed to the emergency room, and we have been potty training our youngest. Even with all of that, I have still been fitting in crochet where I can.

Crochet Newborn Set - Gift

I am proud to say I have finished some projects. I have been working on a baby shower gift for a sweet lady from Louisiana who really blessed me a couple of years ago by sending me a lot of homeschool materials. I wanted to repay that favor especially. I made a diaper cover using a free pattern from Ravelry. Instead of the pattern’s original colors for rows eighteen and nineteen, I did row eighteen in red and row nineteen in white. For the tail, I chained two, then single crocheted five into the second chain, increased around until I reached the width I needed, then single crocheted around until I reached the length I wanted.

For the beige portions, I used I Love This Yarn in taupe, Red Heart With Love in Holly Berry, and Red Heart With Love in Aran. The hat I made started with a magic circle, then six single crochets in the loop, increasing until I had a flat circle the size I wanted, and then crocheting around. I added simple ear flaps with cute floppy ears and made the tail detachable with a button. I love how it turned out, and I am very proud of how far I have come in my crafting.

Crochet Bag- Sarah Sach Designs

I also made a new project bag from a CAL this month. The original design, by Sara Sach of Posh Pooch Designs, was adorable and inspired me. I made my bag slightly bigger, about twelve by sixteen inches, so my long knitting needles can lie flat in the bottom. I plan on lining it with fabric to match the picture. It fits perfectly under my laptop table in front of my chair, and I am loving it.

Donation Squares

Next, I want to share some donation squares I completed last month. I am currently working on four more twelve-by-twelve squares that I hope to mail off by the end of the week. Donating handmade squares feels like such a great way to share warmth and care with others.

Random Things to Share...

Just for fun, I want to share a few random things too. My youngest has been working with his daddy and big brother, putting together a bookcase for the yarn room. My amazing hubby also bought me a new tank top for my craft room that I absolutely love. And in the photos, you will see my sweet little kitty Dexter sleeping in my arms. He is the sweetest thing and always keeps me company while I crochet. I also wanted to give a special shout-out to a follower of this blog who is going through a hard time. Mrs. Lisa, I am thinking of you and praying for you.
