Finished Pumpkin: Spinning Handspun Yarn and Starting a Fall Hat

I am so excited about this yarn. This pumpkin-colored handspun has been such a fun project, especially because I spun it myself. There is something incredibly satisfying about watching fiber transform into yarn, twist by twist, and then knowing it will become something wearable.

Spinning this yarn has been a learning experience, but a good one. I am focusing on keeping my singles consistent and letting the fiber do what it wants to do, instead of fighting it. The color alone makes me smile, and it feels perfect for fall projects and cooler days ahead.

Now that the yarn is finished, I am getting to start the fun part, knitting. I am casting on a hat for myself and cannot wait to see how this handspun works up. I am starting with a two-by-two rib for about an inch before moving into stockinette stitch worked in the round. I love simple patterns for handspun because they really let the yarn shine.

This project is part of a knit along for Must Stash Handspun and the Knit Girllls Halloween KAL, which makes it even more fun. I enjoy being part of something communal, knowing others are working on their own projects right alongside me.

For now, I am just enjoying the process. From spinning the yarn to seeing those first rows of knitting take shape, this project already feels special, and I cannot wait to see where it goes next.
