I love color and for today’s blog challenge the theme just happens to be color. I made a little Pinterest board about color change and the colors I love, and I also have a board called Fiber Love if you want to see more colorful yarn inspiration.
My love of color has changed over the years, which I think is funny when you look at what colors are said to represent. In the past, I was mostly a green and blue girl. If you look at color psychology charts, you will see greens and blues are associated with calmness, peace, and balance, and I guess that is how I felt before kids.
Now that I have two little boys running around, my favorite colors lean more toward pinks, reds, and purples. These colors are often linked with energy, imagination, and vibrancy, and I seem to need all of those things to keep those boys active and learning.
If you look at my yarn stash now, you will see that these brighter colors dominate more than any others. Even the background of my blog features a pair of gloves I made, where pinks stand out. In the four months I have been crocheting, I have made so many bright and colorful things. They make me happy, and they make me smile, so that is exactly why I choose them.
Color touches every part of our home, too. My dining room is painted close to a country red, and my kitchen is a lovely burnt mustard. I think the kitchen may be my favorite room in the house. The boys' rooms are blue and green, which makes sense because those colors are calming and restful. Our homeschool room and craft room have a mix of blue, red, green, and even purple. You can see pictures of its redo on my other blog.
I think I am drawn to these colors because they reflect who I am as a person and as a maker. I see myself a bit like a bee in a garden. Bees love color, and they are drawn to bright blossoms just as I am drawn to vibrant yarn and colorful stitches.

I still fall firmly into the green/blue/purple/neutral category. I have all the other colors in my stash but it's mostly the jewel tones. I don't know that my colors will change...Little Man's might, but I think mine are firmly set. Oh, and I don't make things for Husband :)
