Butterfly Beanies, Crochet Flowers, and Cozy Breakfast Memories

What a week it has been here in the craft nook! We’ve had a mix of warm, pretty days and rainy, cozy ones. Sunday was one of those rainy days that invited us to relax together on the couch. I didn’t mind a bit of rain while we snuggled under my favorite oversized heat blanket. My hubby might tease it, but I adore all that warmth and comfort.

This week I’ve been continuing work on the flower motifs for my scarf. Those little blossoms are so satisfying to stitch and add a gentle touch of spring to the whole project. I’ve also started a cute baby hat using yarn that looks like tiny butterflies fluttering through the strands. I chose this yarn because baby hats are one of my favorite things to make — I love how handmade items carry so much heart and thought in every stitch. Memories of receiving a sweet bib and burp cloth set from a dear friend when my youngest was born still warm my heart, and my mother-in-law made beautiful crochet blankets for both of my boys. Those treasures will be kept for years, perhaps even passed down to grandchildren someday. When I make something for someone else, I think about them and pray for their future while I stitch, and that intention feels woven into every loop and color.

The yarn for this butterfly-looking hat came from Big Lots, of all places. I’m hoping to have enough to make two — one to sell and one to donate to someone in need. Crochet projects like these remind me that handmade care is a way of sharing hope, comfort, and joy with others.

On a lighter note, I also made a breakfast casserole the other day that was so good. I got up early to prep it, and it turned out just right for our family morning. Here’s what I used:

1/2 package of frozen spinach
1  green bell pepper, chopped
1 tomato ( I am a southern so in the spring/summer its all about the maters..hehehe)
4 pieces of bread toasted and cubed
1/2 onion chopped
salt/pepper to taste
basil/parsley/thyme to taste
9 eggs beaten
1 cup mixed cheese

I laid the toasted bread in the bottom of a baking dish, mixed everything together, and spread it over the bread, then topped it with cheese before baking at 350°F for about 40 minutes. It was even better warmed up the next day and made mornings feel extra special in the middle of crochet and rain.

These simple, cozy moments — stitching tiny flowers, dreaming up butterfly beanies, sharing breakfast with family — are the ones that linger. They hold warmth and comfort, the kind that makes a house feel like home and keeps the creative spark alive. two..one to sell and one to donate...
